Leake Andersson Supports the Greater New Orleans Martinet Scholarship and Jazz Brunch

Leake Andersson was proud to sponsor this year’s Greater New Orleans Louis A. Martinet Legal Society Annual Scholarship and Jazz Brunch, bringing together members of the New Orleans legal community to celebrate Martinet’s work and, importantly, support the next generation of legal professionals. 

Attorneys Megan Haynes, Lou Bonnaffons, Wesley Levesque, Hunter Thibodeaux, and Shavon Fletcher represented Leake Andersson at the event, joining fellow attorneys, judges, law students, and community members for the annual celebration. 

Celebrating and Supporting the Next Generation of Lawyers 

Each year, the Scholarship and Jazz Brunch recognizes the achievements of the Martinet Society and members of the community while raising support for scholarships awarded to deserving students. Recipients include current law students as well as college students planning to pursue a legal education. 

Leake Andersson’s sponsorship helps fund these scholarships and support the broader work Martinet does throughout the year to create opportunities for students and young legal professionals. 

For the firm, supporting programs like this is about more than attending a single event. It is an opportunity to invest in the future of the profession here in New Orleans and help ensure that talented students have the resources, connections, and opportunities they need as they begin their legal careers. 

A Longstanding Part of New Orleans’ Legal Community 

The Louis A. Martinet Legal Society has been part of the New Orleans legal community since 1957, when it was founded by African American attorneys working to challenge racial injustice and assist members of the community with legal issues. 

Nearly 70 years later, that mission continues to evolve. Today, the Greater New Orleans chapter serves as a resource for minority attorneys, judges, law students, and other legal professionals while creating opportunities for mentorship, professional development, networking, and community engagement. 

That work includes initiatives such as Pathways & Pipelines to Success, an annual program that helps law students prepare for the transition into the profession through networking, panel discussions, résumé review, mock interviews, and direct connections with attorneys and law firms throughout the city. 

Staying Connected to the Community and the Profession 

Leake Andersson believes a strong legal community depends on creating opportunities for the people who will shape its future. Supporting Martinet and its programs is one way our firm can contribute to that effort while building meaningful relationships with law students, young attorneys, and fellow members of the profession. 

It also reflects the firm’s continued commitment to fostering a more diverse and inclusive legal community and supporting organizations doing that work here in New Orleans.
