In a matter handled by Leake & Andersson, LLP as appellate counsel, the Louisiana Supreme Court denied the opposing Plaintiff’s application for writs of review on September 11, 2015, and thereby refused to disturb the April 8, 2015 rulings by the Third Circuit Court of Appeal that granted various relief requested on behalf of the Firm’s clients. The Third Circuit’s ruling vacated the judgment notwithstanding the verdict granted by the trial judge that materially increased the Plaintiff’s damages award, and also reversed the trial judge’s decision granting a directed verdict for the opposing Plaintiff. See Guidry v. BECi, 14-1108 (La.App. 3 Cir. 04/08/15), 164 So.3d 266. George Fagan handled the argument before the Third Circuit, and he, Pat Wartelle and Joseph Saloom prepared the briefs submitted during the appellate proceedings.
