J. Roumain Peters, III was admitted to practice law in 1992. He worked as an associate with Porteous, Hainkel, Johnson & Sarpy from 1992 through 2000, when he became a partner with the firm. He joined Leake & Andersson in 2001 as Special Counsel for the firm. He became a partner with Leake & Andersson on January 1, 2003.

Roumain grew up in New Orleans, graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1989 and received his law degree from Loyola University in New Orleans in 1992. He was a Board Member of New Orleans Association of Defense Counsel from 1995 through 2003. He was President of the New Orleans Association of Defense Counsel in 2002-2003. He has worked in the area of transportation law, premises liability, insurance defense, construction, nursing home malpractice and general civil litigation. He has tried numerous bench and jury trials throughout the State of Louisiana. He is a member of Louisiana, Federal and New Orleans Bar Associations, as well as Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, New Orleans Association of Defense Counsel and Defense Research Institute.
