Jeffrey M. Burg is an associate with 10 years litigation experience specializing in criminal defense, mass toxic torts, medical and legal malpractice, products liability, transportation,professional liability and insurance defense. Mr. Burg has successfully handled a variety of cases in state and federal court, including successfully arguing in front of the Louisiana Supreme Court. Mr. Burg received his undergraduate degree in Business Management from Spring Hill College in 1994 and received his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University in 1998.
After graduating from Loyola University, Mr. Burg served as law clerk to the Louisiana 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal in the Criminal Central Staff. Following his clerkship at the 3rd Circuit, Mr. Burg became an assistant District Attorney for Orleans Parish. He prosecuted felony offenses for over three years, including narcotics, sex offenses and capital murders. Mr. Burg ended his tenure with the District Attorney’s Office with over 200 criminal trials, including the successful prosecution resulting in seven life sentences.
Before taking a position at Leake & Andersson, Mr. Burg worked for over 5 years under the tutelage of John "Jack" Martzell, litigating in the areas of high profile white collar criminal defense, professional and legal malpractice, personal injury, toxic tort and medical malpractice.
Mr. Burg is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, New Orleans Bar Association, National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys and active in many community organizations in the Greater New Orleans Area.
