Wendy Rovira is a Senior Associate specializing in corporate defense work. She has seven years of legal experience focused on commercial business, labor and employment, insurance defense, securities litigation and mass tort litigation.
Wendy’s trial experience includes defending employers in employment-related litigation, including litigation under Title VII, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and state law counterparts. In addition to experience before federal and state courts, Wendy has substantial arbitration experience representing employers in proceedings before AAA and FINRA (formally National Association of Securities Dealers). She routinely represents employers before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and other state law counterparts.
A large measure of her practice includes drafting employer’s polices, handbooks and employment agreements as well as day-to-day advice on various aspects of employment law. Recently, Wendy has also taken a leading role in defending commercial property insurers in business loss claims arising from Hurricane Katrina in federal and state court forums.
Wendy is skilled in computer-assisted litigation and strategy management tools such as Summation, E-Scan IT, and Adobe Acrobat, which are essential for complex litigation requiring advanced, electronic document management. She is admitted to practice in all Louisiana state and federal district courts, and the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. She has also appeared pro hac vice in federal courts in Mississippi, Arkansas and Texas.
Wendy is a native of New York, earned a journalism degree from Louisiana State University, and graduated from Louisiana State University Law School in 2001. Wendy is on the Executive Board for the New Orleans Bar Association, and is a member of the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel.
