Leake and Andersson, LLP has demonstrated a strong commitment to Pro Bono work. The Firm requires all attorneys, including partners, to volunteer at least 10 hours per year on Pro Bono assignments. Pro Bono assignments are typically obtained from the New Orleans Pro Bono Project and include varied issues such as successions, wills, contractor disputes and evictions. Firm attorneys often volunteer to act as the Pro Bono Project "Lawyer of the Day", which involves a day working at the New Orleans Pro Bono Project screening new clients, evaluating current cases and the like. In recent years, Leake and Andersson, LLP attorneys have also been regular participants in Pro Bono projects spearheaded by Judge Jay Zainey of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, including H.E.L.P. (Homeless Experience Legal Protection).
Leake and Andersson, LLP has been recognized for its Pro Bono commitment. In 2007, the Firm was awarded the New Orleans Pro Bono Project's Distinguished Service Award. The same year, Donald E. McKay, Jr., a partner in the Firm, was given a Distinguished Service Volunteer Award for contributing more than 50 hours of Pro Bono work.
